More Details Emerging about R2D2 Backdoor Trojan

Major antivirus vendors are confirming reports from CCC, Europe's largest computer club, that they've uncovered a state-sponsored backdoor trojan called "R2D2" or "0zapftis." The trojan is designed to monitor communication from web browsers, chat clients, and other software to record, log, and report different types of communications and other activity on any PC it's installed on. Microsoft Security Essentials (Mistakenly) Labels Google Chrome a Virus

Given the relationship between Microsoft and Google, it could easily be called intentional or perhaps even a Freudian slip, and in this particular case, Microsoft's Security Essentials snagged the Google Chrome web browser, and incorrectly flagged it as a ZBot Virus/Trojan. Luckily, it was indeed a false positive and MS quickly rolled out an update to their antivirus definitions to correct the situation. Read more
